Free Live Webinar for Parents
How fear and shame make it harder to tell the truth, and what parents can do differently

Few things can unsettle a parent quite like realizing their child is lying.
It can bring up anger, worry, and a lot of self-doubt:
Why are they doing this?
Can I trust them?
Am I handling this wrong?
What does this mean about the kind of person they're becoming?
And when we're scared or frustrated, it's easy to focus on getting a child to admit what they did, understand why lying is wrong, or promise never to do it again.
But those conversations can quickly become filled with fear and shame, and that can actually make it harder for a child to tell the truth the next time.

In this free webinar, Dafna Lender will help parents look underneath lying and understand what may be happening for a child in that moment. She'll talk about why children often lie to protect themselves when they're afraid of getting in trouble, how shame can leave them feeling even more stuck, and why connection and accountability don't have to be opposites.
Most importantly, Dafna will share practical ways to respond when you know your child isn't telling the truth, without ignoring the behavior, letting go of limits, or turning the moment into a battle over whether they are a "good" or "bad" kid.
Dafna's approach is not about excusing lying or removing consequences. It's about helping children take responsibility without leaving them feeling that they are bad, untrustworthy, or beyond repair.
Because when children know they can make a mistake, face it, repair it, and still stay connected to us, we create more room for honesty, not less.

Dafna's delivery has been so refreshing. She has a way to make taboo subjects seem not so. And, unlike other parenting trainings I've done, I don't leave the class with a huge sense of guilt for what I'm not doing right.

I really appreciate Dafna's direct, no nonsense approach to putting children's needs first while also being empathetic to parents. It's a tricky line to balance and she does it skillfully.

I'm a family therapy expert and attachment specialist, as well as an international trainer and supervisor for practitioners who work with children and families.
I specialize in treating children and their parents, including those with ADHD, anxiety, learning disabilities, and behavior outbursts, as well as those exposed to chronic mental illness, attachment wounds, and other forms of trauma.
From all this experience, I know how difficult it is to parent in these modern times, especially when your child has needs and challenges outside of your knowledge and experience.
